If you think about Italy I’m sure there’s one thing that comes to your mind: Gelato. And I have to admit that it’s pretty good everywhere but, for me, there’s one place that will always be special. I wasn’t sure about sharing this info as I hate crowded places (specially when I’m hungry) but well… sharing is living so there we go!
FRIGIDARIUM: THE BEST GELATO IN ROME
I discovered this place by chance. I was walking around Piazza Navona and suddenly found this little shop and, since then, it became a tradition for me and my flatmate. We were there every week (well, every day in summer…) to enjoy our favorite flavour: cremino. They told us that they don’t always have the same flavours, as the gelato is hand made but it’s worth the visit, even if they don’t have your favorite one!
And here’s the final touch. When you have chosen all your flavours they will ask you if you want dark chocolate or white chocolate… why? Because they literally dip the ice cream in melted chocolate that hardens immediately, creating an amazing crust around it.
But, what if it’s super crowded?
Summer days can be hard so here you have some alternatives with amazing ice cream as well!
PALAZZO DEL FREDDO
It’s a big ice cream shop so you won’t have any space problem here. They have LOTS of flavours so, if you didn’t have the chance to try a specific one, drop by and see if they have it!
IL GELATO DI SAN CRISPINO
This is a classic spot in the center of Rome. If you want to try some of the classic flavours made with amazing ingredients, this is your place!

Si pensáis en Italia, seguramente se os venga una palabra a la cabeza: Gelato. Y tengo que admitir que está rico casi en cualquier parte, pero hay un sitio que, para mí, siempre será especial. No tenía muy claro si quería contaros esto o no, porque odio que los sitios que me gustan se llenen (sobre todo si tengo hambre!) peero compartir es vivir, así que ¡vamos allá!
FRIGIDARIUM: EL MEJOR GELATO DE ROMA
Este sitio lo descubrí de chiripa. Estaba dando un paseo por Piazza Navona cuando me topé con esta tiendecilla y, desde entonces, se convirtió en una tradición para mí y para mi compañera de piso. Íbamos todas las semanas (en verano, todos los días!) para tomarnos un helado de nuestro sabor favorito: cremino. Nos avisaron, eso sí, de que no siempre tienen los mismos sabores, ya que la producción es artesanal y los alternan, pero merece la pena la visita aunque no tengan tu favorito!
Y ahora vamos a por el toque final. Cuando hayas elegido todos tus sabores te preguntarán si quieres chocolate blanco o negro… ¿por qué? Porque literalmente bañan el helado en chocolate caliente que se endurece al contacto con el frío creando una costra alrededor.
Vale, pero ¿qué hacemos si está llenísimo?
Los días de verano puede complicarse la cosa, así que os dejo por aquí algunas alternativas que también están muy bien!
IL PALAZZO DEL FREDDO
Es una heladería enorme así que aquí no tendréis problemas de espacio. Además, tienen MUCHÍSIMOS sabores así que si no pudisteis encontrar vuestro favorito en otro sitio, es un buen lugar donde probar suerte!
IL GELATO DI SAN CRISPINO
Es una de las heladerías más típicas del centro de Roma. Si queréis probar alguno de los sabores clásicos elaborados con ingredientes de buenísima calidad, ¡es vuestro sitio!
